COVID PLAN FOR IN-PERSON SERVICE FOR REDMOND ASSEMBLY OF GOD

Update on April 30, 2021

Redmond Assembly of God has 2 in-person services each Sunday at 11:00 am. Both adults and children of any age are welcome in our Sanctuary service. Our Kids’ Church service is for elementary age children and will meet in the Blue Room. However, we want you to be safe, so we plan to follow all government regulations and restrictions for COVID. We will maintain social distancing at all times, and masks will be required throughout the service and other events of the day. Please plan to stay home if you are sick or have been exposed to sick people. Your health and safety are important to us.

The following is our detailed plan for in-person services to maintain the safety of all attendees.

Overview

  • Social distancing will be maintained throughout the event.
  • Health and safety are priorities.
  • Attendance is limited.
  • In-Service updates
  • Kids Plan and Guidelines

Social Distancing

Entryways:

Both main entrances will be used. Some attendees will be encouraged to park near and enter through the front door. Others will enter as usual through the back door. All other entrances will be closed to attendees. There will be sign-in sheets at both entrances. Social distancing will be encouraged in both areas. The floor will be marked at 6-foot intervals to encourage social distancing. Ushers will be placed in strategic places (near the stairwells, restrooms, and blue room) to direct traffic, encourage social distancing, and discourage congregating.

Sanctuary:

King County is currently in Phase 3, which allows churches to hold indoor services at a place of worship with up to 50% of room capacity or up to 400 people, whichever is less, so long as six feet of physical distancing can be achieved between households in all directions. The maximum occupancy of the sanctuary is 400 people. Therefore, we can accommodate up to 200 people (excluding staff, but volunteers will be added to max count).

Chairs have been removed from the sanctuary to accommodate this physical distancing. In Phase 3, groups of up to 15 individuals may be together.

Brief physical contact may be permitted among a limited number of people (up to 15 individuals) if it is a critical component to the organization’s religious service so long as face coverings are worn and hands are sanitized immediately before and after the contact.

Restrooms:

The restrooms located closest to the sanctuary will be available for attendees. The middle stalls will be closed, and occupancy will be limited to 2 people at a time in the restroom. Ushers will monitor restrooms to ensure social distancing is maintained.

Health and Safety

Signs:

Each main entrance will have signs regarding face coverings and other COVID safety measures, as recommended by the CDC.

Masks:

All attendees must wear face coverings throughout the event. Please wear a mask upon arrival at the building. Extra one-time use masks, for kids and adults, will be available at the entrances for those who do not have one.

Face coverings are required to be worn by all during the service except by an individual who is addressing the congregation. If there are two or more speakers addressing the congregation during the service, only one speaker at a time may remove their face covering.

There are some exemptions to the Department of Health face covering order, including people with certain disabilities or health conditions, some people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and children under the age of 2. Children younger than 2 years old should not wear face coverings; children ages 2 to 4 should wear face coverings with adult supervision; and children 5 and older are required to wear face coverings.

Sign-in:

Sign-in sheets will be available at the front and rear entrances. These sign-in sheets will serve as a log for COVID contact tracking. The sign-in sheets will be retained for a minimum of 2 weeks. If an outbreak occurs, this information may be critical to help save lives. Volunteers will assist at the sign-in tables and will wear gloves. Clean pens will be available for attendees and will not be shared.

Temperature Checks:

Attendees are encouraged to check their temperature before attending. No-contact thermometers will be available at each sign-in table, and volunteers will check the temperature of each attendee upon entry to the building. Any individual with a temperature of 100.4°F will not be permitted to attend the service.

COVID-19:

Any individual with a household member who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or with symptoms of COVID-19 (including a fever above 100.4°F) may not attend the service. Please plan to stay home if you are sick or have been exposed to sick people.

Health Screening:

At the sign-in table, attendees will be asked a series of questions regarding their health and any recent known exposure to COVID-19. Those who have symptoms or who have recently been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 symptoms will not be permitted to attend the service.

High-Risk Individuals:

Those who are at high risk are encouraged to stay safe at home and join us via our live-streams on Facebook, YouTube, and on our web site RedmondAG.org/media.

Tissues and Trash Cans:

Tissues and trash cans will be placed throughout the location, per government recommendations.

Disinfectants:

Disinfectants (hand sanitizer) will be available throughout the building. We will disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly. Frequent hand washing is encouraged, particularly for all volunteers.

Food and Drink Prohibited:

No food or drinks will be served or permitted in the building. The only exception will be for communion. Redmond AG will notify members in advance about what services will have communion, so members can plan accordingly.

Singing:

Congregational singing is permitted, but individuals must not remove their face coverings to sing – it must stay on for the duration of the service. Soloist musical performances are permitted to sing during the service without a mask, provided that the individual maintains 15 feet of physical distancing. In the event the soloist is performing on a woodwind or brass instrument, the soloist may remove their face covering only during the performance. Musical performances that include a soloist and piano accompanist are permitted, but musical performances of more than two individuals are prohibited.

All Attendees

Members:

Redmond Assembly of God is inviting all ages to attend in-person services each Sunday at 11:00am. All attendees will remain in the sanctuary for service, except for kids whose parents elect for them to attend Kids’ Church. Children of all ages are welcome in the sanctuary for service.

Children and Teens:

Kids age 5 to 12, or those who are elementary school age, are welcome to attend Kids’ Church located in the Blue room starting April 4th. Kids are also welcome to attend service in the sanctuary, per their parents’ choice. Our regular Online Kids’ Church will still be streamed Sunday mornings at 10 am.

Kids' Church Guidelines and Plans

Check-In:

All kids will be checked in by their parent/guardian via QR code located on the sign-in table at each entrance to the building. While checking-in, practice physical distancing of at least 6 feet between people within a group as much as possible.

Students will use the stairs going up toward the Blue Room and Church Offices after being checked in. This will help prevent gatherings in front of women’s bathroom.

The maximum occupancy of the Blue Room is 150 people. Therefore, we can accommodate up to 75 people (excluding staff, but volunteers will be added to max count).

Masks:

All students and volunteers must wear face coverings throughout the event. Please wear a mask upon arrival at the building. Extra one-time use masks, for kids and adults, will be available at the entrances for those who do not have one.

Bathrooms:

Children will use bathrooms located between rooms 203 and 205.

Staff or children sick with any illness must stay home. Parents or guardians of sick children will be asked if their child had any of the following symptoms within the last day that are not caused by another condition: fever (100.4°F) or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, unusual fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, recent loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.

General Cleaning and Disinfecting Procedures:

  • Vacuum daily when children are not present.
  • Limit shared materials to those you can easily clean, sanitize and disinfect. Clean and sanitize hands-on materials and equipment often and after each use.
  • Toys, tables, chairs, equipment will be sanitized after each use.
  • Windows will be open for ventilation which is important for good indoor air quality.

Staffing

Volunteers:

Volunteers will assist throughout the event. Volunteers will follow all precautions named above and will urge all attendees to do the same.

Supervisor:

Pastor Chris Douglas is the designated location-specific COVID-19 supervisor to enforce the COVID-19 safety plan as required. He can be contacted at chris@redmondag.org.

In-person services are now planned for every Sunday and are weekly evaluated to ensure they are in compliance with regulations and health guidelines.
