"O Lord, the great and awesome God, who remains faithful to those who love You and keep Your commandments, we come before You in humility and confession. We have sinned and fallen short of Your will. We have been distracted and consumed by the world, allowing social media, television, and entertainment to pull us away from You. We have turned to platforms like Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok for validation and identity instead of seeking Your face and finding our worth in Your love.
We confess that we have allowed the voices of influencers, celebrities, and the news to shape our values more than Your Word. We have been quick to speak and slow to listen, quick to anger and slow to love. We have failed to reflect Your grace and truth in our online and personal interactions, often sowing division instead of peace.
Lord, You are righteous, but today we stand covered in shame. We, Your church, have been more concerned with likes, shares, popularity, and followers than with following You. We have not lived as lights in a dark world, and we have not used the platforms You've given us to spread Your love and truth. Instead, we have sought personal gain, approval, and our agendas while ignoring the brokenness around us.
Forgive us, O God, for the times we have chosen entertainment over prayer, binge-watching over Bible study, and scrolling endlessly instead of seeking Your presence. Forgive us for being passive when we should have stood for truth, and for being silent when we should have spoken in love.
Open our eyes to the ways we can bring healing and hope, rather than adding to the noise and confusion.
Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, help us to act in wisdom. For Your sake and the sake of Your Name, revive Your church in this age. Lead us back to You, that we might honor You in all that we do.
Amen.” - Robroy Ranger 9/29/24
